8bit 8bit Fresh Scripter Registered: 2002-06-21 Posts: 21 Loc: Bristol / UK	So, I've finally finished my logon script, I've tested it under my account and now I've edited a colleagues Account to use it so he can test. Added "kix32.exe test.kix" into the Profile section as is mine. Sync'd the entire Domain and then got him to log in (Windows NT System). No splash screen is displayed and it doesn't seem to run. What am I doing wrong?

"you are here" sleep 10 in it and test again... with the same machine you ran the code from. if no luck, check does batch-files execute with his account if specified as logonscript. this sounds pretty spooky... _________________________ ! download KiXnet

If there is any NT4 domain controllers in the master domain or resource domain, or if your test client workstation is NT4 then you could be using a DC not in your location. Use NLTEST /server:WorkstationName /SC_QUERY:WorkstationDomain to see which DC the workstation is using for its secure channel. If the workstaion is in a resource domain execute the command again: NLTEST /server:DCfromAbove /SC_QUERY:MasterDomain {edit} A day late and a dollar short. [ 11. Did a netdom query and he is authenticating with a DC that has Kix32.exe on, checked the profile again and thats okay. Sync'd the domain so thats fine. If I run kix32 from the commandline of his machine and pass the test kix script it runs but it's just doesn't want to know at logon!

8bit 8bit Fresh Scripter Registered: 2002-06-21 Posts: 21 Loc: Bristol / UK	The machine is NT4 Workstation and is authenticating onto an NT4 Domain. As I mentioned I checked which server the machine was authenticating with and it's defintely one that's correct.

Also, I would rather use a batch file as login script that then calls the KiXtart script. We primarily run our scripts to map network shares. I noticed that my scripts opened on the clients but immediately failed. Even though we run on a single domain without any trusts with other domains, I had to specify the domain name prior to each share specifying global groups, e.g.: If InGroup("DOMAIN-NAME-HERE\Domain Users") Use K: "\\SERVERNAMEHERE\SHARENAME" If the domain name was not specified in my script prior to the group name, it would automatically fail. If you start KIX32.EXE from the NETLOGON share, then the users will need EXECUTE permissions in addition to READ permissions. _________________________ There are two types of vessels, submarines and targets.
