I have read all of the post concerning this topic and none have helped. I am in an AD environment and all DC have the service running. The INGROUP function works very rarely. The client is windows 98 and what happens is the first time you logon let's say when you arrive in the morning. The script runs perfectly and all drives are mapped. However if you have to reboot for any reason all of the INGROUPS fail. Here is what the log file says.

2002/08/23 11:05:40 - Error occured during retrieval of remote network information Error : (0x8ad/2221)
2002/08/23 11:05:41 - Failed to locate/connect to a KXRPC server Error : The network path was not found. (0x35/53)

Why would it find it once and then not again.

Any ideas ?

See KXRPC - Everything you wanted to know about KXRPC

Make sure the service is actually running on all domain controllers, you'll need to install it as a service. Make sure that the cleitn DLLs are all up-to-date and that there's no version conflict.

If you specify a specific RPC server then you might need to use a FQDN in an AD environment since Windows 9x relys on correct WINS information.

Thanks for the reply I have read that document. Since I am using the netlogon and not installing anything localy on the clients I don't have to worry about version conflicts. All of the servers have the same version and the service is running. As far as FQDN can you explain this as I am not sure what that is.

Thanks again for your reply

FQDN = fully qualified domain name

for example "workstation.company.com"
