This new version has incorporated VNC for remote control. SystemTools has been kind enough to provide Remote Control Manager for free under GNU licensing. Sealeopard Sealeopard KiX Master Registered: 2001-04-25 Posts: 11165 Loc: Boston, MA, USA	Not sure about the 150 times but if I use it on my local net e.g. a 10MBit switched or hubbed conenction and maximize the window, then I am unable to tell whether I see my local maschine or the remote maschine I'm connected to. Also, I am limiting screen refreshes to 10 time sper second although I could easily use 100 times per second. However, there's significant CPU processing power associated with 100 refreshes whereas 10 times is not noticable. It may be nice,small, and quick, but the price tag for Enterprise use is near the price of SMS (which does a heck of a lot more) Unfortunately they along with many other software vendors assume that the Corporate world has endless pocket books. I have recently found Dameware (www.dameware.com). Wasn't free, but wasn't very expensive. Which as I say is great for a few users maybe, but for an Enterprise solution it would cost us about $45,000 dollars to implement. VNC on the other hand is FREE. Yes, not as quick or feature rich, but much easier on the wallet. I don't know about you, but trying to convince the Finance Dept that you need $45,000 for one piece of software in these times of reduced profit is not very easy at best. We have been asked to find cheaper/better means to accomplish our desired tasks. Remote Administrator for $45,000 does not fit into that category for us. But hey...if you work somewhere where there willing to pay that much, thats great too. Both link to 216.40.217.15 http://www.radmin.com http://www.famatech.com Terminal Server Admin is also free for Servers, but does nothing for the Desktops.

I tried it and it seems to work fine but when you get to console it has done actually nothing. radmin is also "free" for 30 day trial . [ 17. NTDOC NTDOC Administrator Registered: 2000-07-28 Posts: 11629 Loc: CA	Yes it does Les, but we don't run XP Lonkero... Not sure what you're doing, I've used Terminal Server Admin for a while now. It works great. Don't forget you're at Console 1 not Console 0 meaning you have a session that is not seen directly on screen by another user as you would with product like pcAnywhere. As far as licensing, going around the back door in the Corporate Environment is not an option either. Not worth possibly being sued over. The US is VERY sue happy. They will sue you at the drop of a hat. Most products are on the HONOR System, they have nothing to prevent you from running as many times as you want.

I install to my wksta, adminpak.msi from the SP CD to do much of my remote administering. I also hack in some of the NT4 tools to my wksta since I'm still on an NT4 domain. Then again I've got SMS as well (yuck! ). The cool thing with this VNC wrapper is that it pushes VNC out just when you need it and tears it down afterwards. _________________________ Give a man a fish and he will be back for more. Lonkero Lonkero KiX Master Guru Registered: 2001-06-05 Posts: 22346 Loc: OK	doc, you're right anyway, the problem with ts is that if I stop a virus scanner on my server or re-schedule arcserve job and disconnect, go to console one log on and check the changes, it says there has been no changes. btw, the radmin is for corporate 4,500 and it's cheap as many tools cost us lot's more and the companyes still believe ppl buy those things!
