size is easy with command prompt.
just dir /s and catch at the end the total size.

scanning for files...
I think there is some dir udf's at udf forum...
I'm at linux now so can't test and can't say loud my quesses as they would be silly if they really quesses...

anyway, it's possible allright.

At logon? Wow! you must hate your users. Directory searches and such take a long time when your staring at a blank screen that won't let you do anything till it's done.

Search the board for DIR() and look in the UDF forum.

You're not going to find one that's taylor made. What you may find are bits and pieces to roll your own.

You can start in the FAQ section. Two FAQs that may offer some insight are:

Topic: DIR() Primer
Topic: File Input/Output Primer

There's a UDF as well that you should look at:

Topic: DirPlus() - a recursive dir tool

That leaves only the file size thing. RTFM GetFileSize()

If you want to really punish your users, you can check out my FileSize.exe utility and have them execute a 428K program.

Really if you do not want to write the code in KiXtart you can use "RUN" to launch this program and collect the resulting log files.
