KiXcrypt quite deliberately *does not* bundle the Kix32 executables/dlls.

There are a number of reasons for this:
  • It is a potential betrayal / avoidance of Ruuds careware licensing which makes me uneasy.
  • Most people who use KiXcrypt uses it for it's encryption - not for packaging. Including the executables would make the crypted.exe program significantly larger.
  • Where the executable needs to run on a number of different machines a decision would need to be made on which executable / dll was included.

    My policy (from the Unix world) is that a tool should have a single task and do it well.
  • For auto-execution and simple encryption of KiXtart scripts, use KixCrypt.
  • For packaging use an object packager.
  • For both packaging and encryption, use both tools.

    You should be able to combine KiXcrypt with a zip utility to create a self decompressing archive containing encrypted KiXtart scripts. Many Zip utilities have the option to automatically run one of the archived executables when it decompresses.
