Is there no way for me to map the unc \\server\share\user in kix?
I will not share every users homemap!!!

We are using Novell too! And I know what you mean

You cannot do "Deep Root" mapping with NT servers and or Kixtart on to win9x boxes!! It explains why in Kixtart manual. I think Nt wkstns handle it better.

The only way (As far as I know) is to share all the users home dir as hidden shares using the $ after the user name and then map to them as per the thread I pointed you to.

Run Kix and map users
...
use y: \\server\users
...

Then when you return to the login.bat do a subst.

subst h: y:\mike

This works well and you can run subst from the login script. Only problem is you burn up two drive letters.

use y: \\server\users
SHELL "%COMSPEC% /C C:\WINNT\system32\subst h: y:\mike"
use y: /del

That way you only use one drive letter instead of two.
