I'm trying to perform a LOADHIVE on the Printers subkey but get ERROR 5 (access denied). I'm trying as Administrator but no joy. I need this scripted as a cluster work around. Arrggggg!

First, I think that the LoadHive is not designed to load a key. Have you tried LoadKey?

I concur with Howard. Generally loading a hive is for loading a registry component that resides in a file (like NTUSER.DAT). This only works under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE or HKEY_USERS keys. I've not determined how to use the HKLM loadhive, but the HKEY_USERS works great to modify a user profile (NTUSER.DAT)...

If you're just trying to add registry entries to the registry, try LOADKEY which loads a .reg key like "regedit /s test.reg" or use ADDKEY and WRITEVALUE functions.
