Hi everybody.

On a Kixtart script with these lines:
 Code:
$rc = WriteNextLine($NextLine)
$NextLine = 'TCP/IP Address: @IPaddress0' ;TCP/IP address (possible values for X are 0 - 3) Note: Addresses are padded so that the resulting string always consists of four sets of three characters separated by periods. For example, if your IP address is 123.45.6.7, @IPADDRESS0 is "123. 45. 6. 7"
$rc = Print($NextLine)
;? '$NextLine'
$rc = WriteNextLine($NextLine)
$NextLine = 'TCP/IP Address1: @IPaddress1' ;TCP/IP address (possible values for X are 0 - 3) Note: Addresses are padded so that the resulting string always consists of four sets of three characters separated by periods. For example, if your IP address is 123.45.6.7, @IPADDRESS0 is "123. 45. 6. 7"
$rc = Print($NextLine)
;? '$NextLine'
$rc = WriteNextLine($NextLine)
$NextLine = 'TCP/IP Address2: @IPaddress2' ;TCP/IP address (possible values for X are 0 - 3) Note: Addresses are padded so that the resulting string always consists of four sets of three characters separated by periods. For example, if your IP address is 123.45.6.7, @IPADDRESS0 is "123. 45. 6. 7"
$rc = Print($NextLine)
;? '$NextLine'
$rc = WriteNextLine($NextLine)
$NextLine = 'TCP/IP Address3: @IPaddress3' ;TCP/IP address (possible values for X are 0 - 3) Note: Addresses are padded so that the resulting string always consists of four sets of three characters separated by periods. For example, if your IP address is 123.45.6.7, @IPADDRESS0 is "123. 45. 6. 7"
$rc = Print($NextLine)
;? '$NextLine'

On a Windows 7 computer with VMWare workstation installed

@IPaddress0 returns a virtual IP address instead of the physical IP address, is it a problem with VMWare? WMI? or can this be helped somehow?

Thank you.

Hi and welcome to the board.

Are you running this inside the virtual machine or on the host itself?

Workstation does install 2 network adapters.
My guess is that those are (re)named, so that they are earlier in the alphabet.
You could try to uninstall VMware Workstation and then reinstall it after a reboot.
You shouldn't loose anything important.

On a Windows 7 computer:

Went to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections\ -> Advanced -> Advanced Settings

On Adapters and Bindings moved "Local Area Connection 6" (my physical ethernet connection) to the top (over the "VMware Network Adapter VMnet1")

And script started returning correct values order.

Thank you very much!

That's interesting, thanks for updating us.
I didn't think that option was possible after Windows XP.
It definitely isn't possible in Windows 10 anymore.

Have seen some very odd things in Windows 10. Edge crashing right after a fresh install (web search seems to show a common issue that a newer build [if you're in the insider build group] supposedly fixes).

System Restore unable to do a Restore with errors in the WindowsApp folder saying permissions are preventing. The system just had partitions removed and fresh install of Windows so all permissions should be factory set at that point.

Few other similar "odd" issues I wouldn't really expect to see on a clean install.

Have a USB 3.1 8TB drive that Windows with updates does not recognize. If I fall back to no updates the drive works.

Just recently added a regular USB 3 powered switch that works on Windows 7 and is recognized by Windows 10 but anything plugged into it is not recognized. Again, works on Windows 7 but not 10 - still working on trying to fix that one as I need more ports.
