I have several scripts that open multiple databases (access) and excel files. My problem is the applications are not closing so I will have multiple msaccess and excel running in the background, with the only way to close is thru task manager.

Typically if you call the Quit function from the app it will terminate the process.

The DisplayAlerts=0 portion prevents any unwanted prompts from occurring when it's closed (like asking to save a document).

Actually, I would recommend taking the excel application creation out of the loop altogether. Move these lines up before the loop begins.

There is no need to create an excel process over and over. Just create it once, and then open and edit documents as needed. Then close it at the end, after the loop is complete.

Yep - Putting the launch/kill options outside the loop works GREAT!!! Thanks! Cleans it up nicely in the script as well..

I am sure I will find something else along the way!

It was so weird - I changed the IE to a 2nd screen and the width went nuts. So it affected everyone's view?? So bizarre!

it used to be pretty common thing.

anyways, it should be fixed again. until something changes in browsers that is yet again not documented.

It's not how it was created, it had to do with the length of 3 of the SQL queries.

Creating a script line that long is hard to manage as well, using something like
 Code:
$SQLCmd='blah..'
$SQLCmd=$SQLCmd + 'more blah..'
and so on to build the long line. Makes it easier to see in the editor, one specific command statement per line is easier to manage.
