I am looking for a programmer who is able to providing coding work in his/her spare time and is able to do the work on a small budget. I have come to the realisation that I simply don't have the time, nor the expertise to do the work as very often I don't know how to do the coding.

As I have found a number of people on Korg to be very helpful over the years, I would prefer to hire someone from here where I can be assured that I will get somebody who will do the work properly.

You will be required to have skills in the following programming languages:

Kixtart (naturally)
PHP
CSS
Mysql
shell scripts or bash commands.
VBS
HTML

The specific projects that I require are the following:

1. A script to periodically ping the Internet boxes of clients to verify that their Internet is up and running. I have two scripts that will do the job, but I don't have the skills to convert the coding from the script that does the job to the script language that I need to use to get it to work on my website. You will need to have shell scripting and PHP knowledge for this one.

2. I have tried and failed to develop a kixtart script that will allow me to check that the anti virus is installed, what version is installed, if its enabled and up to date on client computers and if not up to date, then it needs to write to a file on the server which I can check periodically and see if any computers are not up to date with the anti virus. Would be ideal to have this job integrated with job three - optimisation of my kixtart scripts.

3. I need my kixtart scripts to be optimised so that the scripts run as fast as possible on slow client computers and wireless netbooks. General tidying up of the coding would also be good. There is some coding that still uses VBS scripts and I would like that coding to be added to the kixtart scripts. You will be required to have VBS and Kixtart knowledge for this one - although the VBS coding would be more to understand the VBS code in order to convert it to kixtart.

4. If you have expertise with firewalls, I would be interested in having you review my firewall policies (when I get around to writing it up) and improving on the security where possible. But this project will be a while in coming as I want to create the firewall rules myself as its important that I understand how the firewall works as I need to maintain that. You will be required to have shell scripting knowledge for this.

5. If there is money in the budget, I would like to have someone upgrade my extremely basic website so that it looks more professional. This should be very easy as I don't want flash or anything that slows the website down. I am primarily interested in layout and pictures to make the website look more visual. You will be required to have HTML and CSS knowledge for this one.

6. The last project is the one that I will probably require the most attention on. I have a helpdesk, calendar, hardware and software audits database that was based on a program called Taskfreak. My sister who is a programmer has helped me set up most of the database, but I am finding that I have to keep asking her to make changes for me. Originally when I asked her, I expected it to be a couple of hours work and that was it, but as time goes on, more things need to be changed, so I would like to hire someone to complete the jobs required on this database. You will be required to have PHP, CSS and HTML coding for this one.

If you are interested in doing any of these jobs, please email me and I will provide you with a more detailed list of the jobs so that you can provide a quotation. I would prefer to be quoted for each individual job as its most likely that I will have to do each job over a period of time as and when money is available. I would prefer that the website and the database is done by the same person as I want to integrate the look of the database with the look of the website using a common css file if possible. I am happy to have different people do different jobs as job one for example requires a completely different skill set from jobs two and three and there is no need to have the same person do job one and job two.

Thanks Rob
