Happy new year, everyone!

To bring the old year out and the new one with a bang, I've put a new Kix-based deployment tool in the script vault. It can perform near real-time app installation and updates using any desired credentials when a non-admin user performs a detection and triggers a request.

Best to all!!

Glenn

Happy new year to you too Glenn and your family, loved ones and in fact everyone everywhere.

I would like to give your new app a go. I’m looking forward to the download link once docs and everything are done.

I posted the package directly at KORG this morning. I fixed a couple of typos in the documentation and added a section on troubleshooting based on correspondence with a KORG user that is in the process of deploying this in a fair-sized production environment.

I'd certainly appreciate feedback on use, methods, and quality of documentation!

Glenn, the last thing I would run in a production environment is an encrypted install.kix...

To each their own.. we've been tokenizing our login script for a few years now. Since this is associated with our company, some products are tokenized to protect our intellectual rights, while others are done to minimize support from people who change things that shouldn't ever be modified.

This tool is a case in point - the install.kix is akin to many of the other installers out there that use a config file to perform installs. If you don't want to run the installer, the docs describe what needs to be done to install manually.

You can also download the K-Install package from our site which contains the install.kix, samples, and full documentation for packaging your own app installs to better understand the tool we use to package all of our products.

While I respect those reasons, I am way too weary of running encrypted scripts that are written by others and subject to be replaced by "funny people".
