mmuser mmuser Fresh Scripter Registered: 2010-05-10 Posts: 14 Loc: Germany	Hi, we use kix 4.62. We are planning to migrate from Windows 2003 to Windows 2008. The user hugo has his RoamingProfile at \\serv01\profile\ts\hugo. If he logs on the first time at the new Windows 2008R2-server we want to copy the files from \\serv01\profile\ts\hugo\Desktop and \\serv01\profile\ts\hugo\Startmenü\Programme\Autostart to his new Profile at the windows2008R2 server only on time. I have no idea to copy the files only one time Kind Regards Christian

Doofenshmirtz Doofenshmirtz Just in Town Registered: 2010-11-05 Posts: 4 Loc: Baltimore, MD	Roaming profiles should be doing that on its own. Each time a user logs in, the profile gets copied down from the server to the computer. When they log out, the profile files get copied back.

Glenn Barnas Glenn Barnas KiX Supporter Registered: 2003-01-28 Posts: 4401 Loc: New Jersey	Roaming profiles are stored on a "file server"; The user's AD profile references that share location. If you replace the server where the profile data is stored, just create a new share with the correct permissions and copy the entire structure to the new location. Then update the user profiles to point to the new location. If you have a reasonable structure, you can select all users and edit the profile path as "\\newserver\%USERNAME%". No scripting needed. If your path is convoluted, or you have multiple profile locations based on user location, then a script to query AD, check the current profile definition and replace the old servername with the new will be needed. There are several UDFs to read/write the AD attributes, such as ADSIUserInfo(). The most up to date version of this UDF can be found on my web site.
