I just started playing with Kixtart 2001 4.02. I read about(and am experienceing) a problem where Kixtart won't work properly on a computer with both an NT client and Netware client. The fix in this version a registry change. My question is does anyone know if the newer version of Kixtart (4.10?) resolves this problem so the registry change isn't required?

Trust me, you want to change the provider order. It benefits all NT I/O.

Here's what I use.
code:
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; Check the provider Order (for using INGROUP) ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
:NPORDER

$MS = ReadValue("HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSNP32\NetworkProvider", "CallOrder")
$NW = ReadValue("HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NOVELLNP\NetworkProvider", "CallOrder")

if ($MS = "00000040") AND ($NW = "00000020")
$MS = WriteValue("HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSNP32\NetworkProvider", "CallOrder", "00000020", "REG_BINARY")
$NW = WriteValue("HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NOVELLNP\NetworkProvider", "CallOrder", "00000040", "REG_BINARY")
;; Reboot the PC??
RUN "Rundll32.exe shell.dll,RestartDialog"
ENDIF

Question??? This may be obvious and I'm not thinking. I have the same issue and my script won't run at all unless I manually make the change to the reg. If the script won't run, how can I make the reg change in the script? Are you using another batch file? Thanks

Jural

For the bad cases like your's, there's a util over at ScriptLogic that will do it for you.

This worked fine for me. I'm calling the script from a batch file. The only problem I had before modifying those 2 registry keys was using INGROUP.
