I am having a problem with NT. It will not map to a shared lexmark printer. Is there any other command i have to enter?

My current command is

AddPrinterConnection "\\server\printer"

Any help would be appreciated.

2hotty,

With ADDPRINTERCONNECTION, are you using the Name of the Shared Printer or the Actual Share?

addprinterconnection is not command, as it's function.

proper syntax is:
addprinterconnection("\\server\printer")

i am using the name of the shared printer. This works fine for other os. Would i have to include somewhere in my script that if the os is NT then use administrator user name and password. The same appplies for setting the time.

ok, if it does not work for nt...
you mean that it works with w2k and windows 9x?

then would quess that you don't have nt-drivers installed on your server

Is it a problem with the permissions of the user account on the machine? There are a lot of posts on using the SU program (setuser) to set permissions...

On the other hand, I'm unaware of Lexmark print servers forcing NT validation (maybe I just haven't come across it, yet). So, would it be possible that you have your network settings different on NT than on your other machines?

It is possible, via local policy, to require administrative rights to install the printer drivers. If ADDPRINTERCONNECTION cannot install the printer drivers then it'll fail. The solution would be to log in as administrator once and install the printer drivers.
Put
code:
? @ERROR + ' - ' + @SERROR

right behind the ADDPRINTERCONNECTION line and tell us what error code you get.

With regards to SETTIME, you should rather use W32TIME service which is a client-server time service for Windows NT/2000/XP that is part of the OS.

What would i have to edit in this command in order to map 2 this printer

If @userid = 'smithb'
use t: "\\fileserver\net_share"
use s: "\\essbase_1\loaddata"
USER:administrator PASSWORD:password AddPrinterConnection ("\\hrtc\claser1")
EndIf
