Check @Error and @Serror after your failed attempt. What is the cause of your failure?

Are you running Windows NT, 2000, XP? Or Windows 95? Can you map to them with:

NET USE e: \\computer\c$

If you can't map with this, it's not a problem with kix.... most likely a problem with sharing or access permissions on the host PC.

2 [Big Grin]

try to add a second $ to c$ like this :

as kix tries to translate single $ signs into the value of a variable '$':

use e: "\\computer\c$$"

[same thing for @@ , %% .. see the FAQ section]

Does it work with NET USE at a command prompt?

have you tried to ping the Computername (Name Resolution) ?

there are some udf's to strip an Ip adress from a ping (search udf library for ping() [Big Grin] )

maybe it works with the returned ip instead of the name ...

I can't think of a KiX limitation regarding mappings to administrative shares (I for myself do solely use KiX' use command since Years for all kind of mappings !)

Wait a sec...

A domain Admin can map the following:

use e: "\\computer\c$$"

But a regular user cannot map "Administrative Shares." The will need to use something like:

use e: "\\computer\Share"

The only real exception to the rule is when you map share drives for the user like:

use e: "\\SHARESERVER\$USERID$$"

So, if they are not a Domain Admin, they cannot map directly to:

C$
D$
E$
F$
M$ (Usually on a Citrix Server)
N$ (Usually on a Citrix Server)
ADMIN$

HTH,

- Kent

Again if the user would simply check @error and @serror and he received and error 5 (Access denied), then we would have had a solution much faster without all the guess work.
