I have read various posts about different approaches to fix the problem with Windows 7 not mapping drives for non admin users from a gpo logon script.

They seem to vary from an unsupported reg hack to calling the kix script from a scheduled task but I was wondering if anyone has acutually managed to get any of this to work.

If anyone has managed to map a network drive to windows 7 from a gpo logon script could they post the steps used?

Thanks

I can tell you both methods you mention above work. The question is, what do you feel most comfortable with?

Reghack. Positive: Easy to Deploy Negative: Not supported by MS
The reghack is as simple as making the change... and running your script.

RunAsInteractiveUser() UDF - Positive: Easy and Supported by MS Negative: Sucks to do it this way?
Using this UDF is simple as creating your GPO Script, creating a "MapDrives" script or anything else that needs to be run in the context of the user. In your GPO use the UDF to call the mapdrives script.

Allen,

I have had a look on the list of UDF's but I'm not seeing the RunAsInteractiveUser UDF, could you tell me where I can find it? Also when you say In the GPO use the UDF to call the logon script I'm not sure I'm following you on this. I have not used UDF's before and I've had a quick look at how to use them and the guide tell's me to simply add the function at the bottom of the logon script.

Thanks for your assistance

My apologies... I assumed when you mentioned the scheduled task that you had already seen the UDF. I haven't posted it to the UDFs because I haven't received all that much feedback on it. If you find it useful, maybe I'll post it then.

Please see the following threads for the UDF and an explanation of how to use it.

He was suggesting you run a "mapdrives" subscript via the UDF, not the entire logon script.
