I upgraded Kixtart from 4.53 to 4.61 and right after I did so. Any logon script that would run would fire the error: "ERROR : invalid method/function call: missing required parameter 2!". Checked Event Viewer and Event ID # 1 was logged several times.

"Event Type: Error
Event Source: KIXTART
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1
Date: 5/25/2010
Time: 12:23:07 PM
User: N/A
Computer: LHX002CE8470MNB
Description:
The description for Event ID ( 1 ) in Source ( KIXTART ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event:
ERROR : invalid method/function call: missing required parameter 2!
Script: C:\DOCUME~1\ptruini\LOCALS~1\Temp\UHGLS\Logon.KIX
Line : 201
Error : Incorrect function. (0x1/1).

I downgraded to 4.60 and the problem immediately went away. I put 4.61 back, and the error came back, put 4.60 back once again and the error went away and Kixtart ran normally. Back to the drawing board...

What is line 201? If you do a search on "incorrect function" it appears this has come up 3-4 times since 4.61 came out... with no resolution.

You'll need to provide more information.

  • Does the script end or behave incorrectly, or is it just logging the message?
  • Does a on-liner "hello world" script have the error?
  • Do you get the problem if you run the script directly instead of during login?
  • Have you tried to isolate the bit of code that's having the problem?

It's entirely possible that your problems are being caused by a bug which has been *fixed* in 4.61 \:\)

Get the script down to the smallest example which exhibits the problem and post it - we may be able to offer suggestions to fix the script or work around the bug.

Hello,
I encounterd a simmilar or the same problem.
For me it happens when I used a tokenized script that contains the right() function.
When I tokenize the scipt with other version than 4.61 and then run the tokenized script with 4.61 I get this error:

ERROR : invalid method/function call: missing required parameter 3!
Script: C:\Users\scmart\test.KX
Line : 2

The other way round (tokenized by 4.61 and run by 4.60) I get:

ERROR : invalid method/function call: too many parameters!
Script: C:\Users\scmart\test.kx
Line : 2

Thats my script I used for testing:
$text = "Hallo Welt"
right($text,4)

Hope that helps resolving this problem or helping others to understand thsi problem.

Martin

You should always tokenize with the same version of KiX that it uses to run it. Ruud made changes to the tokenizing that made it incompatible with other versions.
