do you guys know of anyway to search a computers registry for a dataname value and remove it. what it is is this msi installer doesnt remove the
InstallationPackage from the registry and our 3rd party deployment tool
still thinks it is installed when the msi /u doesnt completly uninstall.
Well you would think the company who build the msi package would make a better reversal tool but NO they arent doing it so I wanted to create
a regedit.exe file to remove the specific registry key values.
but the key and hives are the same as the other and yeah there is a value hive above the package but it is windows SID value stuff and it is random on each machine. so I just want to make a script that searches for a special like "DisplayVersion" = 9.99.0007 ...the number is distinctive wheras the dataname is not it is the same for every installed package.
and like i said above that is the SID but crap that will be too hard to code I think..
bottom line is I wanto search registry and delete the value 9.99.0007
that is on the right side of DisplayVersion dataname.
does anyone have a good place for me to start? thanks
