Don't preface the script with a UNC path - Kix will launch from the current folder where the Kix exe resides. If you do need to specify the path, use the NetBIOS domain name - \\MYDOMAIN\NetLogon\mykixscript.kix. This will remove the reliance on a single DC, and allow the least busy DC to respond (usually the same one that authenticated the user).
4.60 had a problem, but all other versions will automatically launch "kixtart.kix" from the folder where kix32.exe was run, further simplifying things.
