Hi, I successfully run login script with Kixtart scripting solution for several years. Yesterday I decided to upgrade my Kix32.exe from the ver4.51 to ver4.60. After that my login script stops to execute. When I roll back previous KIX32.exe it starts work normal again. I repeated that a couple times with the same result.
Can somebody please explain to me what I should do to keep my logon script file running with a new kix32.exe.

There were some issues with 4.60. The latest release - 4.61 - is posted in the Lounge (For now). You might want to give that a try. IF that doesn't work, post some more detail regarding the problem - what error messages, etc.

Also depending on what you're doing in your code, there were even some changes in 4.53 (one of the best releases IMHO) over 4.51 that could have broken your script.

If you want you can post your script (removing any personal data) here and I'm sure we can help you to locate what the issue might be.

Search the board for the SANITY UDF as well which can help to find and correct easy mistakes in structure.

I had the same problem... where in 4.51 if I called wkix32.exe from a GPO and had "kixtart.kix" in the same folder as the EXE it ran. When I upgraded to 4.6 and 4.61 I had to include the path and filename of the kixtart.kix to get it to run.

Yep, that is one of the issues with 4.60.

After applying security updates I cannot get KIX to run anymore. I was on 4.53 and moved to 4.61 to try and fix it, with no luck. My kixscript has gotten really fat over the years and I don't want to surrender it. I have tried everything to get it to run and ultimately had to cheat to get it running again. Rather than calling Kix32.exe \\dc\netlogon\kix.kix as my login script I call login.cmd which has the former command in it. What gives? Did a recent security update change the way W2k3 is allowed to process login scripts since nothing has changed with my script or its contents?

You really should start a new topic next time, you'll get more responses. ;\)

Don't preface the script with a UNC path - Kix will launch from the current folder where the Kix exe resides. If you do need to specify the path, use the NetBIOS domain name - \\MYDOMAIN\NetLogon\mykixscript.kix. This will remove the reliance on a single DC, and allow the least busy DC to respond (usually the same one that authenticated the user).

4.60 had a problem, but all other versions will automatically launch "kixtart.kix" from the folder where kix32.exe was run, further simplifying things.

I did try that. I recognized I was tying myself to one server, but at least it worked sometimes. Calling the login.cmd always works, but I'm not happy that I had to change that either since it also ties me to one server. I've checked and verified replication, I've added logging lines to my script to see if I can get an error, but neither the clients nor the servers are reporting anything. I've even screwed around with TCPwaitTimes and Group Policy's slow connection settings, but it just won't run any more. I am perplexed.
