I just installed the new 4.60 version of kix and I have kix32 in every user's Active Directory Profile and I can't get the blasted thing to run. I know it is probably something very simple that is hanging me up. Any ideas?

The kix script is located in C:\WINDOWS\SYSVOL\sysvol\domain\scripts
And the file name is KIXTART.KIX.

I've been using an older version of kixtart for years and have never had a problem with it. Has something drastic changed between version 3.50 and the current one with how kix is called from AD?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've always used a batch file to call Kix so I may not be the best person to help you. I can tell you that what you are doing seems right.

Just to be clear... are you going from 4.50 or 3.50, to 4.6? Without testing, there is no guarantees that your script will be 100% functional between versions 3 and 4. Also, there have been a few issues with 4.6 and many of us have reverted to using 4.53.

4.60 will not auto-run kixtart.kix - either update AD user profiles to specify "kix32.exe kixtart.kix" or use 4.53 for login script processing.

This is a known issue.

This discussion has come up many times and I suppose there are two sides of the fence. One wants auto find of script, other wants to directly point to script. I'm from the side that point directly to what I want it to run, no auto guessing. In a large shop with many admins if someone puts a script in there that kix finds before your script then your hosed. Point directly to your script and it won't matter.
