with kf.net you can.
not really socket, as sockets are old way of doing things.
you can have tcplistener and tcpclient (or what they were called) and use them to send/receive data.
I never got to really implementing all of that code but it's usable alright.
even posted the smtp mailer UDF while back that implemented the client part.
