I'm not sure I understand your question..
If a network is /25, and that's the only network range you have, then there's no point in doing subnet based mapping because you don't have subnets. On the other hand, if your network is /25, but you break it into subnets, then you can map by subnet because the script can calculate the network address based on the client IP and netmask (which would be more than 25 bits).
