Newbie back at it.. I have looked at the code to this and understand some of what is going on.. This looks like a good piece of code, that we could use.. My problem is how do I incorporate it in to a current script.. I did read the faq on how to use udf, but my question is where and how will I see the results from this. i have tried a few things, but don't see results.. perhaps I am missing the big picture.

Post the link to the exact UDF you're looking at, as there are several AV detection functions.

This is the code I used. Like I said I am not sure how to incorporate in to and existing one, and what my expected results will look like. Thanks

You just add the UDF (unmodified) to your script (or call it from your script) then output to screen, or log, or whatever method you want.

Example
my oem code
my oem code
my oem code
my oem code
my oem code
new code to hold AV UDF values
GetNavAntiVirusInfo() UDF

Then the var you used to run the UDF should contain all the data and you just need to output it where you want.

Did you try the examples from the UDF comments?

They will give you some reassurance that the UDF works for you and also demonstrate some of the data that are returned.

I've attached a ZIP file that contains the WMIGetAVI UDF and related documentation. It also includes an "avtest.kix" file that demonstrates its use. This script should help you understand how to use data returned from a complex UDF like these AntiVirus detection functions.

My UDF uses an external AntiVirus product definition table. This table allows you to add custom values, and even define new detection sets for new products without any code changes. What's different about this is that it can detect the presence of multiple AV products.

The definitions are about a year old, but are still pretty valid. Since I don't have access to all these products, it would be great if someone could update the definition table with the missing or current data.

Glenn
