Does anyone know what library KXgetDC is called from in Kixtart. Is it a function or .dll?

Desktop Authority appears to be calling this after a Kixtart script is executed and we are still seeing 1355, domain could not be contacted errors.

We have several .kix scipts, and I'm having difficulty isolating what script is causing the error.

Again Mart and Cj pointed me in the right direction and I thought this was fixed but the error, but it reappeared today.

Indeed thought you got it fixed. It kinda sucks to hear it’s not \:\(

As far as I know it either is a script called KXgetDC or something set from within a script. There might be no other way then just going through all the scripts and see if it is there and of so what it does.

Desktop Authority opened a case and I've talked to (2) support engineers....and all they say is go through each element and every single script. Problem is, we have over 60 scripts in a production environment and apparently old legacy scripts are still out there and havn't been cleaned up.

But essentially, DA said the error is being generated from at least one of those kix scripts.

If you know where all the scripts are, like in one folder, or the names of all the servers, I don't see a reason why you can't script a file to parse through them and look for that function.

Yes, all of these scripts are replicated in the NETLOGON direcotry of all DCs within the forest.

The text 'KXgetDC' is from code internal to kix32.exe. It may be the name of a function in Ruud's source code or reference to an external API call.

This is a function within the wKix32.exe and in turn calls the windows NETAPI32.DLL function NetGetAnyDCName. I have just spent about a day looking into the exact same problem you are getting in the event log. It turned out that there was a typo in the validation logic for a file operation, that didn't even apply. Desktop Authority must read/parse the whole file before processing it for the particular login.

In the error log you got something similar to this:-

KXGetDC : failed to find a domain controller for XXX Error : The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.

XXX being the typo in our case, someone had only entered the first 3 characters of our domain's netbios name, whereas the real netbios name is 4 characters long.

I would open the policy file that Desktop Authority uses in a text editor and search for the text after "domain controller for"

What "policy" are you referring to. I have searched the scripts, but do not get any hits for the "domain controller for" or KXGetDC.
Can you provide more informaiton.
I have also searched for the Domain in question (an old domain that is no longer used). - no hits there either.

This thread is over a year old and most of the participants are not regulars. Hard to say if you will get much help on this one.
