Hi there,

i'm connecting printers during the logon script via AddPrinterConnection Windows XP workstations - runs great.
With Vista, you get an Dialog which asks the user whether to install the driver or not. Where do I find an option to suppress this dialog?
we're running windows 2000 active directory. Would be interesting to know if it is possible to change such values in the AD.

I have the same issue, the only way i have been able to get this to work so far is by turinng off UAC (User Account Control) for the users profile. I would like to find another way so that my tech's do not need to "touch" every profile in order to get this to work.

This may be a different issue, but I think this was fixed in a recent hotfix, and probably carried over to sp1.

And here is a post about my learning curve (loosely translated, GRIPES) with Vista. In the year that has past, I find myself liking Vista more, but still do not recommend it to my customers.

@Allen: i'm not able to install the hotfix, probably because SP1 is already installed. The error says (corresponding, german installation): Your operating system isnt served by this hotfix.

Any help appreciated!

I wish I had an answer for you... with Vista it could be anything.

Is UAC on or off?
On the next line after the addprinterconnection, add:
? @serror
What is the error?
Have you installed the Vista Drivers on the Print Server?
There might be a GPO that needs adjusting.

I don't have an environment where I can help you test. It was just easier to remove Vista and go back to XP.
