I have been running a script for about 3 months now with no problems. In the last few week the script has become inconsistant. 4 out of 5 times the script will not run. And in some cases, Kix32 causes an illegal operation. Nothing has change on the network. The server is NT 4. Workstation are a mix of 95 to XP (all are inconsistant). I am using Kix 4.02. Any help would be great!

Well... the very first thing I'd do is reboot all the DCs.

If LLigetfa's suggestion does not fix the problem read-on.

On any NT,W2K,or XP computer can execute the logon via UNC in a DOS window. Execute the script in this manner an confirm the problem.

Where is the Kix32.exe located? Can you use that Kix32.exe to execute a local test.kix? Delete the Kix32.exe and copy a new one to the local computer from a virgin Kix2001.zip. Try again. This may help isolate the problem.

I have experience similar failure on some computers and replacing the Kix32.exe corrected the issue. The same computer failed the following day in the same manner and was repaired again by replacing the file. I do not have a complete understanding of this yet, but am considering that the anti-virus product may be attempting to clean the file and in the process damaging it.

I will have to wait on rebooting until the end of the day. Hopefully that will fix the inconsistency of the script. Thanks for the tip, LLigetfa .

Kix is located on the DC. The 9x system have copied it to the local system and run it from there. I deleted the kix files from the local system and ran the script. It fix the illegal operation! Thanks Howard Bullock!
