Can we have an option which allows us to disable + enable the Mouse or Keyboard independntley or altogether. This will come in handy if you wanted to do automated scripts and you dont want the user to interupt the process. This will include the Crtl Alt and Del key plus Alt F4. A complete disable of the keyboard.

What do you think?

You can do it today with AutoIT.

And an endless loop in your script ... and placing the script in in autostart registry key

edit: Oh, I forgot to use the AutoAdminlogon, DefaultDomainName and DefaultPassword keys as well ... perfect weapon if you like to have to rebuilt your machine \:\)

<oh well, you can still hold the shift key before login and access the machine remotely to remove the Run Registry Entry>

No, not at all... If it is needed it is a good thing. During an automated install that is driven by scripted keyboard hits and mouse clicks it will be useful (or the printed note to not touch anything hanging over the monitor).

We have had some occasions when we used ASDIS to Install things. The printed note was sufficient any time though.

Still you can, like Les stated, use AutoIT to do it, you can even utilize KiXtart to access AutoITs COM Interface.

I only was thinking of what would happen during the make of a script disabling keyboard and mouse when the scripter had a lazy day or to low caffeine level ;\)

Script / keyboard disable should have an optional time out.

If you expect your process to take 20 minutes then disable mouse / keyboard with a 25 minute timeout. That way when an unexpected event pops up and suspends your automated process or the script that did the disable crashes you just need to wait a bit for the mouse / keyboard disable to timeout so that you can recover.

I get around this problem by spawning an "enable" process to run in the background. If you are using AutoIT then all the processes that wait have a timeout that you can use - however it won't help if the script abends.
