Hello every one,

I need a bit of help. I got a cool request which I think Kixtart can do it but my understanding of COM Scripting is limited.

I need to create a script which can retrieve the list of the currently software installed on a machine exactly like we see in the "Add/Remove Program" functionality on Windows 2000 and XP. The script woudl be run on the machine itself.

My idea is to be able to get the currently installed programs and print that into a text file.

Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thank You every one ! \:\)

There is no need for com scripting.

You could simply use enumerate the keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall with the EnumKey function and write the outcome to a file.

That has potential ! I will keep that in mind but Add/Remove program has less items listed then in the Uninstall subkey. So it must be doing some kind of parsing or retrieving the information differerently.

I appreciate the suggestion. Ill keep that in mind as one potential idea. Though i worried ill generate something too big from it.

Thank you for that input. It is very appreciated.

Keep these ideas coming ! \:\)

....

That's because the registry key has everything that is installed on the system. Ad/remove software for example does by default not show all hot fixes and updates.
