For those interested, you could try using the following add-on to the Group Policy Management Console:-

http://www.desktopstandard.com/PolicyMakerRegistryExtension.aspx

This allows for the modification of any registry entry you specify.

So the above could be set via a group policy, but of course it's much fun creating the script....
