glenn, indeed, the old post was about getting the computer information, like the av.
I got sad when it got dropped.
your version is lot better and in line what I was hoping for but was too lazy to start coding 
on the other hand, all of our customers have xpsp2 in 99% of their client computers, so the udf I just wrote will work for them.
unless they have CA eTrust AV, as it seems to be the only product not to fully support xp sp2...
