I hope this is the right place, but I will give it a try
We are busy with testing the new Windows Vista here. In the future we will upgrade to Vista so everything has to run fine. After installing and configuring the Vista test machine into the domain it was time to login.
But, after login no drive mappings are made. So I had to take a look at the Kixtart scripts we are running. It looked liked the old version didn't work correctly, so we have upgraded the Kix to version 4.53. Now the Kix runs, BUT not at startup....
If I start the Kix by hand (going to the SYSVOL folder which contains the scripts) I get the message: "The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?". I think this is the problem, when Windows starts and you login it takes almost 10 minutes to get into the PC. And no Kix has been run.
Is there a fix or something for this? Or am I the only (or first ;)) person with this problem?

"The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?" I think your solution is this: After you download the KiXtart zip file, right-click on it, go to properties, on the General tab, click the "Unblock" button. Now, unzip the file. It will not make any difference. There is no problem with unpacking Kix32.exe from the ZIP file. The problem is that Kix32.exe is not digitally signed. So it will only run with a warning in Vista.
I tried both a user account as an administrator account. It does not made any difference.

About the Security Warning. IMHO, the same goes for Windows XP. If the pop-up is a look-alike of my upload, I think you should try what I suggested.

This is how I experience it in Windows XP. I presume it will be the same in Windows Vista? Click with the right mouse button on kix32.exe and open the properties. Unblock the file by clicking "Unblock" (sorry, screenshot is Dutch).

Erg vreemd.

IMHO, just unblock the file. It all starts with the kix2010_453.zip you download. before unpacking it with Windows XP or Vista "compressed folders" utility, right click on the zip file, go to properties, take the general tab and click the "Unblock" button. Maybe also read this, as this started with XP SP2. Description of how the Attachment Manager works in Windows XP Service Pack 2 The more files you unpack and distribute from the blocked package (with the compressed folders tool in Windows), the more files that are blocked afterwards.

This Kix is running from a GPO indeed. So there is no "Unblock" button or something.
The problem is that at boot the system takes almost 20 minutes to boot because it waits for somebody to push the "Run" button. But that screen (as I posted above) is not visible at startup. So it will never run.

Ok, I am reading it but don't get the clue yet
The strangest part is that if kix32.exe is runned from the local harddisk everything is fine. But because it's opening from \\domain.local\SYSVOL\etc\etc\ it gives the error.
But I will take a look at the attachement manager, maybe it will do the job. I will let you know!

I have downloaded the package again btw. Unpacked it on the Vista machine and copied it to the folder on the network where the GPO script is. Didn't make any difference

I understand. And I did that. But no luck yet.
Turning off UAC didn't do the job either. I'm affraid that Vista handles the GPO Logon scripts on a different way. But I am wondering, am I the only one with a Windows 2003 domain with Kix and trying Vista? That can't be possible
