I hope this is the right place, but I will give it a try \:\)

We are busy with testing the new Windows Vista here. In the future we will upgrade to Vista so everything has to run fine.
After installing and configuring the Vista test machine into the domain it was time to login.

But, after login no drive mappings are made. So I had to take a look at the Kixtart scripts we are running. It looked liked the old version didn't work correctly, so we have upgraded the Kix to version 4.53. Now the Kix runs, BUT not at startup....

If I start the Kix by hand (going to the SYSVOL folder which contains the scripts) I get the message: "The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?". I think this is the problem, when Windows starts and you login it takes almost 10 minutes to get into the PC. And no Kix has been run.

Is there a fix or something for this? Or am I the only (or first ;)) person with this problem?

I think your solution is this:
After you download the KiXtart zip file, right-click on it, go to properties, on the General tab, click the "Unblock" button. Now, unzip the file.

About the logon scripts running or not, I think in the lounge there are some threads about Windows Vista.
I thought I read that when a Administrator logs on, the login script reacts weird. When a common user logs on, mappings in logon script are OK.

It will not make any difference. There is no problem with unpacking Kix32.exe from the ZIP file. The problem is that Kix32.exe is not digitally signed. So it will only run with a warning in Vista.

I tried both a user account as an administrator account. It does not made any difference.

About the Security Warning.
IMHO, the same goes for Windows XP. If the pop-up is a look-alike of my upload, I think you should try what I suggested.

This is how I experience it in Windows XP. I presume it will be the same in Windows Vista?
Click with the right mouse button on kix32.exe and open the properties. Unblock the file by clicking "Unblock" (sorry, screenshot is Dutch).

Erg vreemd.

Tha_Duck,
Maybe you can post in English so the whole community can understand your question and help you.
Your screenshot looks like my first one.
What if you right-click the kix32.exe and take the properties?
Until now, I do not have experience with Vista. I hope to change this in few months.
[Edit]
Is that a GPO User logon script you are running?

IMHO, just unblock the file.
It all starts with the kix2010_453.zip you download.
before unpacking it with Windows XP or Vista "compressed folders" utility, right click on the zip file, go to properties, take the general tab and click the "Unblock" button.
Maybe also read this, as this started with XP SP2.
Description of how the Attachment Manager works in Windows XP Service Pack 2
The more files you unpack and distribute from the blocked package (with the compressed folders tool in Windows), the more files that are blocked afterwards.

This Kix is running from a GPO indeed. So there is no "Unblock" button or something.

The problem is that at boot the system takes almost 20 minutes to boot because it waits for somebody to push the "Run" button. But that screen (as I posted above) is not visible at startup. So it will never run.

The thing Witto showed in his post can also be set by GPO or with per user registry settings. Have a look at the link Witto supplied.

Ok, I am reading it but don't get the clue yet \:\)

The strangest part is that if kix32.exe is runned from the local harddisk everything is fine. But because it's opening from \\domain.local\SYSVOL\etc\etc\ it gives the error.

But I will take a look at the attachement manager, maybe it will do the job. I will let you know!

Do this as domain admin, evt. on your domain controller
Go in the folder
\\DomainController\sysvol\YourDomain.Extension\Policies\{That-Strange-Unique-Number}\User\Scripts\Logon\
You should find kix32.exe in that folder
Right click kix32.exe
go to properties
Go to General
I presume at the bottom you should see the "Advanced" button
Is there also an "Unblock" button?

The unblock is only once per file, not per computer.
Naturally, if the file is copied before unblocking, all the copies also have to be unblocked.

I understand. And I did that. But no luck yet.

Turning off UAC didn't do the job either. I'm affraid that Vista handles the GPO Logon scripts on a different way. But I am wondering, am I the only one with a Windows 2003 domain with Kix and trying Vista? That can't be possible \:\)

Maybe not the only one but at least on of the few.
Vista is just a few months old and that limits the number of people using it and therefore limits the amount of knowledge about using KiXtart on Vista.
I'm trying to get my hands on a legal copy of Vista Business so I can test on my Win2K3 test server but no luck so far. Sure I can go out throw some money (€ 400,--/$ 520,-- \:\( ) on the counter and ask for Windows Vista at my local computer shop but I'm trying to get my boss to buy a copy for testing purposes. As soon as this is done I’ll see if I can duplicate the problems you are experiencing.

Long way to go to catch up with those 5K+ guys.
