Glenn Barnas Glenn Barnas KiX Supporter Registered: 2003-01-28 Posts: 4402 Loc: New Jersey	As you likely know, the US and Canada have enacted a law that changes when DST begins and ends. There are ramifications not only for computers in these countries, but for those who communicate with the US/Canada. Microsoft has released hotfixes for W2K3, XP, Exchange, and other products. Windows 2000, however, is not supported. A patch is available (for a few thousand $$) for users with enterprise support. Those without an ESA are SOL. $;\)$ I'll be putting up some tools on my web site over this weekend that will update the W2K server and professional systems. Was only making the point that we don't have the issue of the new standards as we don't change time, so if all the company's out there relocated to AZ, the issue would not be that big of a deal. Besides AZ is one of the fastest growing states in the US and I can only hope that with more people that my property values will increase just that much more. _________________________ Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.

Does AZ have so much daylight, it doesn't need to save any? (bah-boom!) AZ has so much daylight that we could adjust all the other time zones and forget about the back and forth nonsense? (I'm here all week!) Sorry - I missed my joke allotment for bad-joke Thursday and am trying to make up for it now.. My Brother-in-law lives outside of Phoenix - he was upset that we had warmer weather in Jan (in NJ) than they did out there. G- _________________________ Actually I am a Rocket Scientist! $\:D$

It's like I knew this was coming since November... and I guess I just assumed it was a quick fix on the time zones... but this is a PITA! Hmm - the patch is sounding better... There's one more CRUCIAL bit of info.. you can't roll this out over time. You can patch your servers, and then your workstations, but if you use Exchange - well - the Exchange patch, appointment rewrite tool, followed by the patch on every device connected to Exchange, including client workstations and any WinCE or WinMobile device SHOULD be patched in rapid succession. Failure to do so will result in clients creating appointments based on their local DST change values. Further, the appointment rewrite tool only updates RECURRING appointments! Any individual appointment falling into the New/Old DST change window - Spring or Fall - must be updated manually. Canada decided to follow the US on the DST change, but Mexico did not.. so the southwestern US states bordering Mexico will have a couple weeks where the time is different across the border. (Just like the states bordering AZ) Not to lose sight of the original post, remember too that Windows 2000 does NOT have a free patch available from MS. (and that we would not have this problem if we relocated the world's population to AZ. Gargoyle - I got dibs on your couch, buddy!) They are offering it for free. Go to http://www.intelliadmin.com/downloads.htm It is the first item under their freeware downloads. Gregg
