I have a Citrix server that is in the beginning stages of implementation. We are moving from a strictly Terminal Server environment to Citrix Presentation server. We are only going to Publish one or two apps without giving users access to a desktop. I've got a login script that will execute and do what I would expect as long as I've published the desktop and the user opens it. If I only publish an application, the script doesn't run. I'm executing the script via local gpo as we are still in the middle of an AD migration, but not complete.
Does a user that only has a published app have access to HKCU?
Any help/pointers would be appreciated of course.

I think that you have another issue.
I have a Citrix Metaframe XP farm with only published applications, and the login script is fine.
The user accounts are the same that they use for their desktop logins, and the login script is the same one. The only difference is that some branches in the script are taken for Citrix logins and some for non-Citrix logins.
Although the script is now VBS it ran fine when it was KiXtart.
When you start the first published application for a session on Citrix the login process is (near) identical to a desktop login. The major difference is that explorer.exe is not started. This means that all login scripts should be executed (including usrlogon.cmd), anything in the "run" registry entries will run and if you have roaming profiles they will be copied to the server.
Subsequent applications which start in the same session don't go through the login or other startup processes, because they session is already established. If however you start a new session because you connect to a different server or the published application settings are different (audio, colour depth) then you will go through the login again.
Maybe your script is abending or failing to start.

Have you got any ideas what would cause the script to abend if the desktop wasn't present? I keep thinking there is some setting within Citrix that I need to change or grant the user, but I'm at a loss.

Ooh...I just realized..I'm not actually running just a script. I'm using a packaged .exe via adminscripteditor. I'll change this to start from a batch file and see where that gets me.

I'm trying to use UNC paths in my script. Would this explain why the script would run if the desktop was available, and not for a profile with only a published application?

AFAIK, the logon script should run... How is the logon script implemented? Is it set in the properties of the user object? Is it set in a group policy? What is the command to start the script? If a batch file is used, what is written in it?

I found out that somebody monkeyed with with usrlogon.cmd file on one of the farm servers. This was interfering with what I was trying to do. Thanks anyway.
