So since Vista is getting ready, they ship 2003 Standard in a new jacket and call it Windows Home Server ?

It does so much! I should consider replacing my corporate network with one of these.

@doc, the links you posted are just rumor-articles and really doesn't say anything ;\)

There really isn't much info on this OS yet. Here's an interview/key notes from the presentation @ CES:
http://microsoftatces.com/archive/2007/01/08/microsoft-home-server.aspx

Key features are usage simplicity, daily automated backups of all connected PC's, remote desktop access to all connected PC's (á la SBS), home web server available from anywhere, reduntant storage of all media, a JBOD-function enabling all connected PC's as a single storage unit etc.

No I know there not, but better than the cartoon one. It has no information or links for more info or anything and not appearing to be a Microsoft site really makes it more of a cartoon or possible flaming of Microsoft sort of like this site.

wtf, I've got ie7 as well here, and ff 2... tried the page - returned 'oops, no flash installed, click the allmighty big image to download!" .. Then it sends me to the plugin for Mac OS X ... that's what you get for using IE7 in XP .. but with firefox, it directs me to the win-version..

Yes I know Bjorn but not like MS to spend the time to build a site like that and not have white paper and other links readily available.
i.e. I just don't see it as there normal type of page. No big deal

Acctually, what I can remember they did something similar with something else a while back. But I can agree - a normal page with white-papers on would been better... and all in flash, and no bloody readable stuff anywhere *_*

Some more info:

The OS is based upon Windows Server 2003 R2.

Will be released second half of 2007.

It's a collaboration product where HP delivers the hardware, and MS the OS.

Here's some screenshots and a pic of the hardware box:

Will wait and see but I don't see the average "home user" buying an additional computer device like that.

What? you're telling me that this is more or less a colabirabtion (don't mind the spelling) between Ms and HP ? I thought this was a bit more to it since the product is 'supposed' to evolve around home 'custumers'....bloody polarbear ...
