Hello, I'm having a problem with the FAQ "How do I send e-mail from KiXtart (SMTP)". I can read other FAQs as normal but this one generates this display in my browser.

"ANTI-VIRUS DETECTION ALERT
The anti-virus scanner was triggered by this file. The file was not cleaned and has been removed.

Context: 'showflat.php'
Detection(s): 'VBS/Generic@MM (virus)'

See your system administrator for further information."

I imagine this is a false positive because of the e-mail related content of the FAQ and the supposed detection being one that relates to malware that does mailing but perhaps you have other ways of checking. I see the board has recently experienced a problem (all the anonymous postings) so perhaps this is related? I have successfully read the e-mail FAQ in the past.

Are you using McAfee? It is a false positive. I get it too.

f-secure has issues with some posts too.
whenever member gets these false positives, he/she should report an incident to the AV provider.

The issue is that the detection is somewhat valid as we have script scan enabled and the post contains VB script that can be used for mass mailing.

somewhat?
you get what message?

the above says "virus"
and that's totally wrong.

also, if that filter would be used, then every time windows boots, it should warn too as that's the OS used to do the mass mailing and execution of many viruses.

And what do you think we should do about it? It's not a board problem.

referring to my earlier post and the comment by les.

please, if you find issue with your av products, please please, take it up to them.
that's the only way they can fix their errors.

Jooel et al, I have returned from a short holiday in Rome hence my delay in responding. Thanks for confirming my suspicion that this is a false positive. I do have to agree with Howard though, about this being a somewhat valid positive.

I know it's not really a board problem but a av-problem. Still wanted to make the public aware of the same troubles with other software.
