Just annoyances I've been wondering about:

Why doesn't DEL $Path\*.* remove subfolders?

Why can't RD delete non-empy directories?

The effect of this is tiresome enumerations if you want something deleted...

ah, was sitting with the scriptlogic KiXhelp451.chm here. Seems like RD is 'already' fixed then

Yes. KiX 4.53 should be working just fine. There are multiple posts about it and I've tested it and it seems to work for all the scenarios I tested.

I also spoke with SL and they say they should be updating the help file soon.

oh...
just to note, del shouldn't delete folders.
it's a file deletion command and thus should not ever delete any dirs.

anyhow, go to your manual and look up what it says.

Most of these types of commands were designed to perform what the DOS version does.

DOS version of DEL is only for file. Always has been, probably always will be.

RD or REMDIR were for use in DOS for removing Directories.
(there was no such thing as "folders" until the Candy OS' came along)

and there is a logical meaning as well.
del is for deleting information but directory doesn't have any. only the files it contains have some.
directory was and still is just a way to organise the information.
