Currently @TSSESSION returns a 1 if KiXtart is running in a Terminal Server Session.

I would like to suggest it be enhanced to provide the following.

    @TSSESSION
  • 1 = Terminal Session on Server in APPLICATION MODE
  • 2 = Terminal Session on Server in ADMINISTRATOR MODE
  • 3 = Terminal Session on Windows XP Pro
  • 4 = Terminal Session on Windows Vista

Though 3 and 4 are not really much concern for myself but I listed them just in case someone piped up about them.

I would think 1 and 2 would suffice for most Admins.

With the release of 2003, there is also the console mode, so you could get a return of application mode, but still be logged in at the "console".

Of course this theory is not supported with any testing, but wanted to mention the possibility of another varation.

My two cents go into the basket for this one. If it would return unique values for admin mode and app mode and a unique value when on a TS but logged in on the console would be great. Just like Doc 3 and 4 would not be very useful in my environment but maybe someone is running a "cheap" TS on XP or Vista.

You can determine 3 and 4 from existing macros like @PRODUCTYPE, so I don't think that they would add anything.

BTW, what do you mean by "administrator mode"? Is that like "change user /install"?

One could install TS for remote administration and not to serve users.

I do give my vote to this also. At least to have the seperation of a 'ts' to a xp-machine and a server-machine. Yes, this can be done with the producttype macro, but since the producttype-macro cannot always be trusted (or perhaps I have just read old threads), but is extended to so many different releases it feels like not seperating the different types of TS-sessions limits and almost looses the usage of tssession..
