At present a common Kix script is launched via a batch file in each users profile. (We use Win9x and Win2000 clients) The execution of the DOS batch file on some Win9x clients sometimes locks and sometimes executes so fast nothing actually happens.

My view is the problem is related to the MSNET32.DLL does anyone disagree. I have 2 files from Microsoft.com 245729us5.exe and 245729us8.exe which I believe install the latest version of MSNET32.Dll again the question is are these the latest versions? Should I install these files anyway?

Steve,

I believe that would be prudent solution. I also remember seeing these files available from Bryce's website and more specifically here.

Can you report your results to this thread? I am sure that someone else has or will see this issue.

Thanks!

- Kent

Are the Win9x clients all running the same version of the MSNET32.DLL? Has this problem always existed, or only recently? What KiX version being executed, and are its DLL's current on the Win9x boxes? Quite possibly the MSNET32, but...

Thanks for the replies
KIX 3.63 is the current version being used all Kix EXE'S and DLL's are loaded on client machine from the login script. The inconsistant login I believe has always been an issue it is only recently that it has caused concern as kix is performing more functions during login. Finally there are definitely various versions of MSNET32.DLL on the client machines.

This can help in the copy process if you feel need to update MSNET32.DLL. Can not copy in place when Windows loaded, so must use wininit.ini to move at system reboot. This variation works with single version of MSNET32.DLL (msnet32.new), so if using Win95 and Win98 this must be modified.

code:

$CR = CHR(13) + CHR(10)
$OSDir = READVALUE ("HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion", "SystemRoot")
$OSSys = "System"

IF ("$OSDir\$OSSys\msnet32.sav") = 0 ; REM ** Check if this step has already been performed (0=not found)
$FileNam = "msnet32.new"
$DstDir = "$OSDir\$OSSys"
$SrcDir = "@LSERVER\"
