For convenience. I cannot imagine drilling down through the cryptic folder structure to find the files to edit nor can I see launching GPMC and then editing the GPO and drilling in that way to find the files.
Putting the files in a nicely organized well named folder structure is worth having a tiny BATch file that does nothing more than provide the full path to the files.
