I heard tell that there was an MS Office related hotfix released yesterday (or supposed to be released anyways, based on rumor) but Windows Update shows nothing. Anyone know anything about an Office hotfix this month ?

After a further read this evening, it appears that we may need to do nothing for client systems running XP with SP2 for these two new bulletins.

MS06-011 DACLs vulnerability is rated as "important" but XP w/SP2 and W2K w/SP4 are listed as non-affected systems.

MS06-012 MSO vulnerability is rated as "critical" but only for Office 2000 suite of products. Under Office 2003, only Excel is the affected product, and it's vulnerability is rated at "important". Our W2K systems with Office 2000 need to have the patch deployed (manually, tech by tech on remaining systems)

Urhm, well, naaah. I saw something tho, I cannot recall if it was that one (I don't really look carefully when patching my own machine). Are you refering to the Windows Update page?

Checked my logs and found that it was this one that installed :
Product: Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 - Update 'Security Update for Excel 2003 (KB905756): EXCELff' installed successfully.

- Thus not the one I pointed you to.

Aaaaha! now I get it ;P my patch came from earlier. I tend to kill the sms-client (don't trust it since noone in my group handles it , and due to a reboot it restarted itself and therefore got installed ;P

For your home system there Shawn are you sure you updated to the new BHO for IE? That includes items such as Office updates, etc... otherwise if still using the older BHO it does not support the Office as I recall.

Also it could just be a timing thing - I'm sure it takes a bit of time to update all the MS Servers too to be ready for the millions of connections all at once.

well, I was accessing from work - all the BHO's that could be dl'd were dl'd.

The reason is prolly because at work here, we're running the pre-SP1 version of Office 2003. Have yet to apply the SP, that hotfix is for SP1/SP2 office only.

So before you say it - yeah, we're way behind on Office patches ;0)
