Hi, I just tokenized my scripts 3 days ago and problems started to pop out ever since. The major problem I have is that some Windows 9X computer return the following error when running the script :

Error : Failed to decrypt data
Error : (0x800901/-2146893808)!

Can someone please help me... I've been searching on google and can't find anything.
Thanks.

If I recall correctly there has been an issue with tokenized script on Win9x systems. Don't know when this came up and can’t find it with the search but I do recall something like it coming up in the past here.

If you are really really really sure that you run this on 4.51 (The version which fixed en-/decryption issues with w9x according to Ruud) we should bring this to Ruuds attention. (ie. posting this in Beta forum)

Could you post the script or mail it to me (see profile for e-mail address)? I can install a system with Win98 and give it a go tomorrow when I'm back at work. Just to see if it’s not a broken system you got there the issue should be verified at a "clean installed" Win98 box.

I've sent the scripts to Mart, but I would like to mention (after I've read the link provided by Mart) that all my Windows 95 have a problem with tokenized scripts... but I think it'll just give me a reason to trash them. The Windows 98 are second edition and I don't have the problem on all of them. It's really confusing, I've been trying to isolate the problem, but I can't. The scripts run on some and not on other Windows 98SE computers. I've tried to tokenize with 4.51 and 4.52 beta2.

I wonder if it's possible there is some connection to the version of the SHELL.DLL or SHELL32.DLL on these systems.

Maybe you can check these versions on one that works and on one that does not work.

alexchevrier,

Sorry but can’t setup a Win98 or Win95 system for now because I can’t get my hands on a legal copy of Win98 or Win95. Thought I had at least one of them but it disappeared and I cant’ seem to find it anymore.

thanks, I don't know if you could have reproduced the problem though... I have about 1000 Windows 98 in the 30 schools we work in (about the third of all our computers), but only a few of them have the problem. We haven't be able to find what causes this error yet.

Anyone has a suggestion ?
