I'm very new to scripts and basically don't know anything right now. I would be interested in knowing how to write a script that would map 3 network drives automatically at the start up menu, instead of manually mapping every drive for a new computer.

When you say "map 3 network drives automatically at the start up menu" do you really mean to say "map drives in a login script" ? And if so, will these mappings be based on any kind of group membership ?

Yes, want to be able to map a drive using a script so I manually don't need to go to my network places, right click and add each network drive. Not sure what you mean by membership, there won't be any administrator restrictions, only the user signed on will be allowed into certain folders eventhough all will be displayed.

Well, what we usually do is something like this (this will map the E: drive):

Code:

break on

USE E: /DELETE /PERSISTENT
USE E: "\\SERVER\PUBLIC"

exit 0

Now, if your user's are grouped by convenient global groups, then one can also do this:

Code:

break on

IF INGROUP("Accounting")

USE E: /DELETE /PERSISTENT
USE E: "\\SERVER\PUBLIC"

ENDIF

exit 0
