Ok, ok, ok. We all know jooel can be a bit direct in stating his opinion and hanging on to it but he has got the basics right IMHO, the recycle bin is only for garbage not for backup that's why I switch it off.
Making a proper backup if needed before deleting stuff is the preferred way IMHO.
Like I said earlier I can support the -r parameter or something like it for the del command but I'm not going to use it right now. I see the use of in some cases. So I will support it cause it's could be useful in future scripts and in the cases you gave in your comments in the other thread.
