YES! VICTORY!
That was the problem...
I upgraded to a newer version of Kixtart and the copy was able to complete to the hidden and read-only directory.

Thanks for your help Pip. Say hey to Miss Haversham.

You're not trying to replace the FOLDER you're trying to ADD a file to that location.
I can't guarantee that version 3.6x can see that location or not, but 4.x does for sure and my guess is that 3.6x does as well.

The folder structure doesn't even exist for the Office applications until the first time it's run. It then creates a folder structure and assigns the permissions of the current user FULL control. There should not be any issue for the user logging in to copy the file to that location providing that they've run Word at least once first and created that folder structure.

Word was already run on this machine. The folder structure existed. That wasn't the problem.

The "Application Data" directory has the attribute Hidden.
I upgraded Kixtart and ran it with the same syntax. The copy worked....
With 3.6 it didn't work, it stopped RIGHT AT THE APPLICATION DATA DIRECTORY.
(I did tests)

And while yes, the user has rights to the folder, it seems that maybe version 3.6 can't run the copy command on a Hidden directory?

Anyhow, it worked, so I must assume that was the cause, and the fix.

lots of stuff is missing in copy in 3.xx
as a matter of fact, until to some 4.20 it was lacking about everything.
