Hi All,
Hope you can help me!!
I am new to Kix and i am using it to map all my printers in my login script which is working fine.
My problem is that i use roaming profiles and some of my users machines have been set up using US keyboard settings and i need them to me UK. I need UK date, time, keyboard and default keybord.
I have searched through the registry and have found some of the registry keys that are required to change using the DOS command regedit /s. However it is not working. I manage to change some of the settings but not all of them.
I am looking for a script to change these settinga when the user logs on.
Any help would be great.

you are wanting to change US keyboard to UK date, time and keyboard?
well, I'm not really sure what you are after but changing the default keyboard layout of a machine is nothing one should do in a script. I mean, the default kb is the one set to fit the layout of the keyboard.
hmm.. are US and UK keyboards with the same layout? if not, then you shouldn't screw them up. and if they are, then it does not matter which one the keyboard layout is.

Like Joel said are you sure that they are running all the same keyboards if not this could really screw things up.
But if you are sure try running a app called regmon, this will monitor all registry traffic. Run the app just before you switch the keyboard layout to UK, and you will see what changes are made in registry.

All the KB's need to be UK. There are two reasons:
(1) On a US keyboard the @ sign is above the number 2 which on a UK keyboard the 2 is ".
(2) We run a piece of software called SIMS and this requires a UK keyboard as the date needs to be DD/MM/YYYY not the America MM/DD/YYYY. If the American keyboard and regional settings are US all the reports are wrong and this causes problems on finanical reports.
sorry, but I can't see why, if the keyboard has " above char 2, you should change the driver settings, so it will not give the correct output?
and, the keyboard layout and the language settings are unrelated! so are the regional settings. they are all three different selections and again, you should not screw up the keyboard one in your trial to fix some other.
one more, if the software is so poorly designed that it can't handle dates properly, you should contact the provider and ask them to fix it. what you are trying to do is just a workaround and will fail in the long run.

Hi,
The software house is a hughe multinational called Capita and every school in the UK use this software for the management of it pupils, and keyboards in the UK are actucally printed differently than ones in the US have a look here http://www.bsjp.co.uk/ict/keyboard1.jpg.
Changing the regional settings is the solution and when i do this manually everything works fine, i just wanted to change this setting centrally.

not quite sure what values you need to change to get all you need but you can check the key with regedit, before and after you change them manually to see what you need to edit.
