Hmmm... I see our buddy Dave Lipman has been up to some good, helping others with their Virus/Worm/Trojan issues.

Way to go Dave. If you'd like some assistance let me know.

Is it free and is it easily located and downloadable from script?

And... come on already. He does offer 4 different scanners already.

it is free and considered the best there is.
and come on, putting lots of poor scanners together does not make perfect one.

Can you say OPINIONATED!!

Think Kaspersky for one (probably all) would highly disagree with you.

Simply because F-Secure is from Finland where you're from does not make it "The Best".

I have seen so many studies and polls about which AV to use it can make one's head spin with all the bull used in the comparisons.

We also know Jooel is real good at scripting, so maybe you could whip up some good, solid code for it that Dave could easily plug into his code.

huh.
I see you rose with wrong foot today too.
taking this stuff a bit personally?

and, even though I come frome finland where also comes some darn good av, doesn't make that av any worse.

given, that it won't make it better either... perhaps...

I am happy to help as many as possible with my malware removal tools and KiXtart is at the heart.

When I am asked if I have a PayPal account for a donation, I tell them that the software is CareWare and a Donation to charity is best.

The people in this KiXtart forums have helped me to help so many. :-)

Thank You all !!

I have three basic tools and three specialty tools.

The Multi AV Scanning Tool provides; McAfee, Sophos, Kaspersky and Trend Micro scanners.
http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/Multi_AV.exe

The Clean Tool is my oldest and it is based upon a McAfee only scanning tool.
http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/clean.exe

The Sysclean_FE tool is based upon the Trend Sysclean utility.
http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/Sysclean_FE.exe

Derivitives of the McAfee Clean tool are...

A Backdoor.Haxdoor and Raze spyware removal tool.
Download Haxdoor.exe from the URL --
http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/Haxdoor.exe

A SmitFraud Trojan, SpyAxe, SpySheriff, SpyStriker, Apropos, SurfSideKick, AntivirusGold, PS Guard, I Guard, etc. removal tool.
Download SmitFraud.exe from the URL --
http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/SmitFraud.exe

A Winfixer 2005, Vundo Trojan and Adware-Virtumundo Removal Tool.
Download WinFixerFix.exe from the URL --
http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/WinFixerFix.exe

The combination of scripted removal plus McAfee heuristic and signature based detection and removal makes the specialty tools a cut-above others.

As for a F-Secure command line scanner (CLS), I am not aware of one. McAfee and Kaspersky are up to about ~170,000 signatures and they are quite effective. If someone has information on a F-Secure CLS, I'd be happy to entertain the idea. I had thought about F-Prot at one time but I dropped the idea and went to Kaspersky.

Note that I have also created a VirusBlocAda module for the Multi AV Scanning Tool but it is not publicly available due to the need of a "license key" file which would make it difficult to distribute. The License Key I had expired on 12/31/'05.

as far as I know F-PROT commandline scanner is FS commandline scanner:
ftp://ftp.fsecure.com/anti-virus/free/

tbh, I never really scanned a full system with it, but I haven't used any other commandline scanners either, except ClamAV.

Well according to Kaspersky the F-Protect is using their kernel drivers so I would assume they are on par with each other.

What do you think about maybe doing some type of KiXform application along with a command line script type if when needed?

Kaspersky blows away F-Prot as seen through new infector submissions to Virus Total.

I have tried KiXforms but can't get a handle on it yet so for now it is not part of any solution. I had thought about using it for a GUI based "location" selection.
