Is there a way within Kix to check what a users screen resolution is. If it is not what I want it to be can Kix change the setting, and if it can is there a way it can verify that the requested resolution is supported by the end system?

Do you really want to PO people? Messing with their desktop prefs is a good way.

for the script that I am writing I am looking at changing the resolution during execution, and then returning at the end of the script. Of course I would be nice enough to warn them that I was going to do so.

That said, we have several web based apps that require a minimum 1024X768 display and users that like to knock their's down to 800 or even 640! We embed a bit of JScript in the page to let the user know that their resoultion does not fit the minimum. If they choose not to comply, they cannot use the app, plain and simple.

That is an option that I thought of, but was thinking that if I offered to change it for them.... but maybe I am being way to nice.

If you try being nice to them, they will get the upper hand on you. It is like showing fear...

KiXforms will give you the current screen res.

Yea, I have done that before with Kixforms, works really nice, but was unsure about changing and validating a new setting.

If memory serves, you can check the resolution using WMI and WMIQuery() UDF.

Changing the res could get tricky unless it is in a tightly controlled environment where you can be sure that the setting will work. I don't know how many times I had to haul a computer back to my lab because the monitor in the field would not support the res I set it to.

Did I not reference WMIQuery() before?

QuickRes is not supported on XP....
And the UDF only gets the resolution. Nothing about setting it, or validating the support on the graphic card.

now, as I read this, it asks for a way to check the resolution.
and udf library provides more than one code for that.

next time, don't ask for something you don't want.

I assumed that the UDF that you were pointing out was to answer all parts of the question, not just the one, which it does do.
