This is pretty cool hehe

From Eileen Brown's WebLog

You can add Encarta to your MSN Messenger buddy list and ask it questions. The answers are totally fascinating. But first... here's how to get this going..
1. Open MSN Messenger and sign in.
2. Add Encarta as a contact: encarta@conversagent.com
3. Double click Encarta from your Contact List.
4. Ask a question!

You get an instant message when you add the contact:
Welcome, Eileen! My name is Encarta Instant Answers. I am a smart computer who can bring you the Encarta info you want right in your IM window!
Here are some questions you can ask me:
* What is the size of Italy?
* Where was Nelson Mandela born?
* What is a cello?
Type your question and I'll look it up for you!
So I did...

Eileen says:
Who is Santa?
Encarta® Instant Answers says:
Santa Claus, legendary bringer of gifts at Christmas. He is generally depicted as a fat, jolly man with a white beard, dressed in a red suit trimmed....
Go on - give it a go. - it's kept me amused all weekend...

Hmmm... Thanks for the info. Wonder who is smarter Encarta or Google.

Google can answer in similar fashion, though some replies from Google aren't quite the answer expected.

For the example question: What is the population of South Korea?

Both Encarta and Google give back the same answer 48,422,644

Well it would seem Google knows what HOT is, Encarta didn't even try to tell me.

Quote:

NTDOC says:
what is hot
Encarta® Instant Answers says:
Hmmm lemme see... Friends, Encarta, school... Those are some of my favorite things.
I'm a little bored. Why don't you ask me questions I could try to look up in Encarta?
What does the flag of Mexico look like? Ask me, and I might even play its national anthem too.

Google says:
used of physical heat; having a high or higher than desirable temperature or giving off heat or feeling or causing a sensation of heat or burning; "hot stove"; "hot water"; "a hot August day"; "a hot stuffy room"; "she's hot and tired"; "a hot forehead"

But that's being mean and not using Encarta for what it's strong points really are which is hopefully a more in-depth authoritive answer on many subjects instead of some home grown web page that someohow hit the top of Google's hit list.

But the kicker is when you click on a link to get more on the answer you get. The item is available exclusively to MSN Encarta Premium subscribers. Join today for just $4.95/month* plus applicable sales taxes. Click for details.

Now that SUCKS Sort of like a Crack dealer giving you some freebie, then tries to sell it to you once you get a taste for it.

Google seems to have found you on a few sites. Or someone with same name and town. Do the sites forum.doom9.org and cdfreaks ring a bell with you?
