Hello everyone,

I have a number of thin clients and PC's that login to our AD domain with a VBS Script.

But I have a single machine in the warehouse that a number of users need to login to that needs to run a different script. That in and of itself is easy, but these same users need to login to other machines and get a different script again.

My VBS script is based upon AD groups and works for everything else.

What I need to know is how to write my script so when people log on it gives them the right drives, and when this thin client logs on to the Citrix servers the different script runs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

how about using something like this:
if @wksta = "WAREHOUSE"
if @userid = "username1" or @userid = "username2" or @userid = "username3"
use x: /d;
use x: "\\server\share1";
endif
endif

This is How I do specific loops for our Citrix Servers, and other machines. Do one check for what computer you are on, and another for the users you want. an or statement can have many options, you can keep saying or, or, or.

Hope this makes sense.

The problem with these users is that they are going to be logging into 2 different type of machines.

So I need 2 different setups, and the big issue is that they are going to moving around, even to the extent where and what they are doing each day. This means I can not exlude them by user or group.

The downside of users have multiple work functions.

Well this is a KiXtart support forum, not a VBS support forum.

If you architect your script properly you will have the flexibility to support your environment. All of your users should execute the same script (IMHO). You need to determine if you are running on a Terminal Server (thin client), a general workstation, of a special workstation. These determminations can be based on the OU where the computer account resides.

Read over: http://home.comcast.net/~habullock/logon_script_architecture.htm for some ideas. There is also helpful info in the FAQ forum.

This really isn't a big issue. I have this at the top of my old login script:

; Determine login type
$__LOGINMODE=Left(%SESSIONNAME%,3)
If Not ($__LOGINMODE="RDP" OR $__LOGINMODE="ICA") $__LOGINMODE="STD" EndIf

This sets the variable $__LOGINMODE to one of three things:
  1. STD - a normal desktop login (or console login on a terminal server)
  2. ICA - A Citrix ICA login.
  3. RDP - A terminal server login

You can then use this to select a branch of your script to deal with the correct environment.
